COVID-19 UPDATE, 8/2022: LIFT is currently enrolling learners (next registration: 8/12/2022, 10:00AM). Some classes are held remotely via Zoom, and some are held in person. In July 2020, Executive Director Mark Pettis was honored for his 25 years of service to learners at LIFT! Mark was presented with a plaque from the LIFT staff and students.
In September 2019, Mark Pettis, Executive Director, received the Administrator Hero Award, sponsored by the Institute for Educational Leadership at the Adult Education Heroes Celebration, hosted by Elevation Educational Consulting Group. The award recognizes "an exceptional administrator who has demonstrated a passion for leadership and has made an outstanding contribution to the field of adult education in the DC/MD/VA area." Congratulations, Mark!
Previously, Mark was recognized nationally by the Coalition for Adult Basic Education (COABE) as runner-up for the 2017 COABE Administrator of the Year. Please see the related press release:
