About Us
Learning Is For Tomorrow, or LIFT, was created by South East Community Organization (SECO) in 1988. In 2007, LIFT became an independent, 501(c)(3) organization.
LIFT was created to respond to the needs of southeast Baltimore residents who want to improve their basic educational skills. Many adults struggle with daily skills, such as understanding job applications, helping their children with homework, reading a rental agreement, or obtaining a driver’s license. For others, improved skills are needed to keep a job or advance in the workplace.
LIFT’s objective is to help adults overcome these barriers. Since its creation, LIFT has expanded from one-on-one tutoring to a comprehensive adult education program offering classes in literacy, adult basic education (ABE), GED preparation, and computer lab instruction. LIFT offers specialized classes for learners with suspected or diagnosed learning disabilities.
We welcome adult learners (age 18 and over) who are interested in attending our program, and others who support these values, to contact us at 410-522-1705.
